Big Picture : Sutton Hoo

This weeks Big Picture is a replica of the Sutton Hoo helmet. This beautiful object is on display at the National Trust site in Suffolk. The real helmet - what's left of it - is in the British Museum.

From The Big Picture

The archaeologist Basil Brown started excavating the site in 1938 and what he found was one of the greatest Anglo-Saxon burial sites in the country.
