Big Picture : Imperial War Museum

This weeks Big Picture is from the Imperial War Museum, in London. This is a Mark V Male Tank, although the Starboard gun sponson has been removed to create a 'view panel' into the tanks interior. Only eleven Mark V's are known to survive, most in Russia where large numbers were sent to support the White Russian Army in the war against the Bolsheviks.
From The Big Picture

It's been a couple of years since my last visit - a deficiency I should try and rectify this year. The main hall of the museum holds the large exhibits and its few locations where you can turn 360° on the spot and see a Mk V; a Sherman; a Jagdpanther; a Sopwith Camel ; a Spitfire; a V1 & V2 and a Polaris Missile!

  1. My girlfriend took me for Valentine's Day (well, technically the day before) and I was thinking of putting some photos up on my blog of our adventures, but didn't want to spoil it for people who hadn't been. You really should go again, and if you do check out the "Terrible Trenches" exhibition from Horrible Histories, it was most enjoyable!

My favourite part of the day was the main lobby, which held all my favourite things. The V2, Jagdpanther, Churchill and the brilliant T-34/85. Be sure to check out the Monty section as well!

Thank you for leaving a comment. I always try to reply as soon as I can, so why not pop back later and continue the conversation. In the meantime, keep rolling high!
