I was lucky enough to have ...It looks a great read. I was lucky enough to have worked with and meet various ex soldiers. Most didnt say much especially my Dad who was also in the desert but now and again they would say something. One I always remember was a man called 'Tot' who was captured at Dunkirk He had been in the DLI and surrendered to some Waffen SS. One of them broke his jaw and cheek for the trouble. He spent the war in a camp in Czechoslovakia and then walked right across Europe to get home at the end.He said they pillaged as they came home. He described his officers as young clueless boys and his weapon as much good as a broom shank. Mind he did steal a wonderful German officers leather coat which he had kept all his life.He was quite a boy.
