Feeling... moist

Sorry no wargamey post this week. I haven't had any time to even think about painting or gaming because I have been up to my elbows in water. A few weeks ago I 'fixed' our toilet but in the process I must have damaged some of the pipework, creating a tiny leak. The actual leak was so slight as to be unnoticeable but the cumulative effect over several weeks has resulted in a very damp bathroom and even soggier floorboards. Its taken a lot of cursing, and a lot of patience to track down the point of the actual leak and even more swearing to fix it (I'm not a natural plumber and DIY in general is a mystery to me). So currently my bathroom looks like a war-zone, with the flooring ripped up and woodwork stripped bare ready for repainting. Looks like the only brush I will get near for the next few days will be a 1"!

  1. ugh. We had a similar experience in our kitchen a year ago. Not funny and very expensive. Thankfully our insurance took care of most of it, but not having a floor in your kitchen was a #"¤!
A word of advice, though: Let it dry a long time. Don't start painting anything until it is fully dried. I think our kitchen had to dry at least two weeks before the craftsmen started doing anything (well, after they ripped the floor away)
So, paint some miniatures now, when you have the time :-)

    1. Oh we had that as well. About 12 years ago we had a major leak under our kitchen floor. The repairs ran into many thousands of pounds, but thankfully it was all covered by our insurance. It took nearly five months for the contractors to dry the house out and repair all the damage, which was pretty much every room on the ground floor!

  4. We had a toilet overflow this past month and now we have 20-30,000 worth of damage to the house. Not much in terms of gaming here either.

    1. Eeek. Its at times like this I wish I could rely on a decent plumber, but finding one that isn't going to rip you off can be hit and miss. Hope you have better luck!

  5. We still have a hole in our wall from a leak a long while back in our bathroom. I am a crap handy man so not sure when it will get no longer looking like an ugly scar. Cheers

    1. I think its a gamer thing...we can build wonders in small scale but give us 1:1 craftsmanship and we suck.

    1. Oh yes. This is what I get for thinking I'd fix it myself.

    1. The only flaw in the plan....Ray lives about 30 miles from me and I need a car to get to him. Guess who's car broke down at the weekend...!
